Celebration of the European Language Day
Friday 26th September 2025
On 26 September 2025, we had the pleasure of celebrating the European Day of Languages, a landmark event that highlights the importance of linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe and beyond its borders. This year, Charles III middle-school has once again taken up the challenge to involve our students in this beautiful initiative.
The modern language teachers of the establishment organized a special activity in which all 6th grade students who chose an LV1 option participated. Each student created a poster highlighting the first words, phrases and symbols learned in the language studied: German, Chinese, Spanish, Italian and Russian. These creative productions, presented in the form of a multilingual mosaic, reflect the cultural enrichment that each language can bring.
Beyond language learning, this day was an opportunity to reflect on the importance of "living together" through languages. The students shared their thoughts on what it means to speak another language:
- Celebrate the diversity of each language,
- Highlight the specificities of our culture,
- Promote language learning,
- Participate in cultural and educational activities, such as broadcasts, conferences and workshops.
The posters created by our students illustrate not only words and expressions, but also symbolic elements of each culture: greetings, culinary specialties and emblematic monuments. These creations are shared on our site to allow you to discover this linguistic richness.
We were able to see once again how knowing different languages opens doors to other cultures. Indeed, as Paul Valéry said so well: «Let us enrich ourselves with our reciprocal differences». Each new language learned brings us closer to others and gives us the keys to better understand and appreciate our diverse world.
Finally, all the modern language teachers in Charles III midde-school warmly congratulate their students for their commitment and creativity. We encourage them to share this passion with their peers in order to promote the importance of modern languages for building a better future.
