On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Auditorium of the new Charles III College was transformed, for a morning, into a veritable tribune of expression for students passionate about the Italian language. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the third edition of the Competition of eloquence in Italian was held, an appointment now awaited in the cultural life of the establishment.
For this edition, the competition took on a new dimension with the participation, for the first time, of 5th grade students, who joined the candidates from 4th and 3rd grade. All took up the challenge of speaking in Italian before an attentive audience, demonstrating both courage, preparation and enthusiasm.
The proposed speeches testified to a great richness of reflection. The students tackled various themes such as friendship, dreams, the role of sport, the fear of error or even the notion of sacrifice in today’s society. Through these interventions, the participants were able to convince, move and sometimes surprise the audience by the quality of their argumentation and their ease in speaking.
The performances were evaluated by a jury composed of staff members and teachers sensitive to the Italian language and culture:
• Jacqueline AMENDOLA, French teacher
• Mara MARCEL, establishment officer
• Audrey DI CHIARA, English teacher
• Tobia SAVOCA, professor of history-geography
The particularly high level of candidates made deliberations difficult. The grade spreads were very close, with some scores playing at only half a point.

The graduation ceremony was held by Mr. Bertrand, Principal of the College, who warmly congratulated all the participants for their commitment and audacity. He recalled that this type of experience constitutes an excellent preparation for future oral exams and also highlights the importance of the Italian language in our region, both culturally and economically and socially.
The students who arrive at the top of the categories 4th-3rd LV2 and Native student will have the opportunity to represent the College Charles III during the Competition of Eloquence of the Academy of Nice, organized by the Association of Italian teachers of the Academy (API 06/83).
📅 Next steps:
• Semi-final: Wednesday, April 1st at the Lycée des Eucalyptus
• Final: Wednesday, May 6 at the General Consulate of Italy in Nice
We wish them much success in this next step and encourage them to enthusiastically defend the colors of their establishment.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the valuable help of Damien GIULIANO, audiovisual manager, as well as Stéphanie TIESI and Steve GAROSCIO from the reprography service, who contributed to the smooth running of the organization.
Our thanks also go to the Italian teachers — Steve COJAN, Lydie LOPOPOLO, Vania OSSI and Andrea MELIS—for their commitment and attentive support throughout the first two terms, which allowed the students to reach such a beautiful level of expression.
Over the years, the Competition of eloquence in Italian has established itself as a highlight in the life of the Collège Charles III and a beautiful tribute to a language particularly present and precious in our region.
Congratulations to all the participants and long live eloquenza in italiano! 🎤
