38th Italian Cinema Days

On Tuesday March 19, 2024, a day rich in discoveries and emotions marked the 4th grade Italianist students at Collège Charles III. With enthusiasm, 36 young people passionate about the Italian language and culture, from classes 4ème 7, 4ème 9 and 4ème 12, headed to Nice to attend a special screening (unprecedented in France) of the film "L' ultima volta che siamo stati bambini " as part of the 38th Italian Cinema Days at the Espace Magnan. The students watched this film with attention and great emotion, then were asked to express their opinion as part of the Young Audience Prize. They thus had the opportunity to share their impressions by slipping their ballot into the ballot box positioned at the exit of the room.

Directed by Claudio Bisio and released in Italy in 2023, "L' ultima volta che siamo stati bambini "takes us on a fascinating epic through the adventures of a group of Italian children during the Second World War. The film delicately addresses themes such as friendship, the fight against discrimination and extremism, highlighting light the fundamental value of these human values. The synopsis immerses us in the poignant story of Italo, Cosimo and Vanda, three children who, following the disappearance of their friend Riccardo, embark on a perilous mission in search of of a camp whose true nature they do not know.

This sunny outing in Nice allowed the students of Collège Charles III to enjoy an enriching cultural experience. They were thus able to fully immerse themselves in the captivating world of Italian cinema and discover all the richness of transalpine culture.

The 38th Italian Cinema Days are a major event which, for 50 years, has been honoring Italian cinema in Nice. This year, Espace Magnan offered a program rich in discoveries, with the screening of 16 films, including 9 previously unseen in France, as well as a photographic exhibition and conferences led by experts in the sector. Creative workshops were also organized, providing an immersive experience for children and adults.

This wonderful project was made possible thanks to the commitment of the LV2 Italian teachers from the Charles III college, Ms. Adorno, Mr. Cojan , Mr. Melis, organizers of this outing and thanks to the involvement of Ms. Boiral , professor of mathematics of the establishment, who made himself available as an additional guide for the group.
