Our students shine at the Éloquence Competition

The Collège Charles III de Monaco is delighted to announce a major event for our institution! Following the Éloquence Competition organized in February 2025, our students had the honour of participating in the semi-final held this afternoon, Wednesday 26 March, at the Lycée du Parc Impérial in Nice. This competition, organized by the Association of Italian Teachers of the Academy of Nice, saw 36 passionate students from various schools in the region compete against each other.

The participants, 18 middle and high school students, demonstrated impressive oratorical skills through engaging speeches, both linguistically and substantively. The topics covered were not only rich in emotion, but also of great relevance, leaving the audience stunned by the depth and strength of the messages conveyed.

The students were classified into sub-categories: LV2 college students, native speakers, high school students in the traditional section and high school students of the European Section and ESABAC. Among these young talents, 22 of them will have the opportunity to present themselves on April 30, 2025 at the Consulate of Italy in Nice to compete in the final, which will take place in the presence of the Italian Consul.

We would like to express our immense pride in our two students who brilliantly represented the Collège Charles III during this semi-final: Edoardo Garavaglia, student of 3rd 6, prepared by his teacher M. Cojan, and Nicolas Gandolfo, student of 4th 8, prepared by Mr. Melis. 

These two talented speakers are preparing to defend a speech inspired by a quote from the poet Alda Merini: «Quando si arriva in un nuovo paese senza sapere la lingua, è come essere dei bambini.» This highly anticipated event will take place on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Consulate General of Italy in Nice.

We are convinced that Edoardo and Nicolas will carry the colours of our Principality high in this final, and whatever happens, they have already won through their perseverance and passion for eloquence.
