Students of the 3rd year of Collège Charles III went, this Wednesday, November 20 to the exhibition «Apollo 15 in the plain of Hadley», organized by the company Venturi.
In collaboration with 3D Media Sciences (OMP: Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées, Toulouse), IRAP (Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie, Toulouse) and APOLLO 25++ (association law 1901 having for thematic exploration of the Moon), the astronomers have passed on to young people their passion for the Moon.
The astronomer Serge Chevrel took them, thanks to large panoramic photos provided by NASA, in the footsteps of Dave Scott and Jim Irwin (Apollo 15 mission, July 1971) in the fabulous landscapes of the Hadley Plain. They experienced the exploration of the site, understood the conditions of life on the Moon and immersed themselves in scientific discoveries.
The researcher Hervé Laur then showed them his magnificent work on the lunar suits Apollo with:
- exact replica of the suit of David Scott, commander of the Apollo 15 mission
- replica of the Artemis suit (2024)
David Scott, commander of the Apollo 15 mission is one of 12 men to have walked on the moon, next to the replica made by Hervé Laur
Students were able to put on the Apollo 15 mission suit and realize its weight and vision through!
Finally, dressed in a space suit, the students (astronauts and Mission Control) were able to collect on the Moon (AREL Workshop) the samples that present the most scientific interest.
An incredible journey that brings new knowledge to students for their PPE “Space Travel” !
