Netherlands
Between 16 and 20 May 2025, 36 students from the 4th 2, 5, 6 and 10 participated with their 4 teachers (Ms Denais and Carr, MM Bonnard and Pegliasco) in an unforgettable trip to the Netherlands.
This country has been able to tame water («its worst enemy») over the centuries to fight against floods and gain 25% of its surface on the sea and swamps.
By bicycle, as on many boats, the group was able to see how canals, dykes, dams, mills and the port of Rotterdam were all installations and infrastructures built by the Dutch to control and enhance this aquatic environment.
With the visit of the beautiful cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, students shared intense and informative moments with their teachers.
One of the highlights was the 30-kilometre bike ride inside the exceptional UNESCO World Heritage site of Kinderdijk, where numerous mills built as early as the 18th century drained and dried up the water in the polders.
A real adventure and an experience that made everyone happy!
